New baby Eleanor arrives on the scene to bring joy to all (and complicate Tilly’s life). Will she be “Nell” or “Ellie?” Time will tell

Eleanor Claiborne Murray-White, was born at 1:39 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, at Freemasons Hospital, Melbourne. She’s a beauty, all right, and no lightweight either, tipping the scale at 4.2 kg and measuring 52 cm long (9 lbs., 3 oz. and 20 ˝ inches for imperial measure readers). Tilly is stoically coming to grips with having her status as the Big Tuna somewhat infringed upon by another child in the house. But, she is adjusting to it every day.

Eleanor is gorgeous, has long, dark hair and big dark eyes, but the hair is rapidly turning lighter.  She also has this bizarre cowlick-type clump of hair that shoots up at the back of her head and it is impossible to control.  No one can explain it, but Bill’s theory is that it has something to do with Lisa’s lifelong attachment to the Belgian boy hero Tin Tin, whose 1930s and 1940s comic book adventures still fascinate her. Eleanor looks a bit like Tin Tin, who has a huge cowlick. Maybe it’s some kind of psychological transfer. The big question now is, will Eleanor be called Nell or Ellie? Bill and Alma started calling her Nell, but Jacob and Lisa seem to be sticking with Eleanor for the time being. No matter. Eventually some schoolmates probably will decide the issue, and who knows what it will be?

Here are some photos. Visit Lisa and Jacob’s website at www.users.bigpond.net.au/awayteam for more pictures of Eleanor.
