Latest Tilly, Eleanor and Edie Gallery

                                                                                                                                                  (Last updated Aug. 20, 2010)

One of the symptoms of a besotted grandparent is an inability to stop taking photos of the grandchildren, as this new gallery of pictures will attest. It includes a fairly routine event, a morning with Tilly and Eleanor at Curtin Square, which is a lovely park and playground just down the street from our Carlton North house. The girls enjoy visiting with “Papa” and “Grandma” and never seem to forget that we are soft touches when it comes to lollies, icy poles from our freezer or delicious ice cream cones from Yumbo’s just a couple blocks down Rathdowne Street. Also just down the street, in the other direction, are the Carlton Baths and Gymnasium, where Tilly is enrolled in a gymnastics class for beginners and where we often take the girls for a swim in summer.

Here is the gallery of pictures that I will update from time to time with my own photos and some taken by Lisa and Jacob:

Eleanor swims off of Ann and Roger’s boat, “Sea Oats,” in Long Island Sound. Jacob snapped this unusual photo using his underwater digital camera.

Tilly peruses the menu at the famous Oyster Bar Restaurant in New York City’s Grand Central Station. Her look says “Yuck!” Many more photos of the U.S. visit made by Jacob, Lisa, Tilly and Eleanor may be found at Lisa and Jacob’s web site at:

Tilly’s First grade class was asked to paint self-portraits. Here’s her entry.  Her eyes always seem a bit wild, but you should see her drawings of “Papa.” He looks absolutely maniacal.

The park at Curtin Square  is always a big hit with the girls

What is summer without a lemonade stand? Entrepreneurs Matilda (Tilly) and Eleanor set up a stand in front of their house and showed that while capitalism may be under somewhat of a strain these days,  it still thrives. Adam Smith may have had some wealth creation advice for these young ladies, but their profits seemed to be linked more to the rising thermometer than economic theory. A cyclist (above) stopped by for a drink.
